Saturday 27th October 2018 v Whitchurch United - FROM LISA…
I would like to introduce myself as Vics new Club Secretary. And, in so doing, acknowledge the fantastic service that my predecessor Daz Dyer has given to this great club over the past fourteen years.
He and and his family have had a long association with the club through great times past and I only hope that I can live up to Daz’s tremendous contribution over all those years.
Some may recall my time as Club Secretary at Newport (IW) FC, then briefly with Cowes Ladies FC before coming to the Vics.
My role is a triple one, in that while I am East Cowes Vics official Club Secretary, I am also the Secretary and Assistant Manager to the newly formed Vics Ladies team that play on Sundays in Division Two of the Hampshire County Women’s Football League.
Here at Vics I realise the responsibility ahead, with not only three senior men’s teams and the Ladies team, but also our youth teams too, who must all share my time equally to ensure the smooth and successful running of the club, on and up to ever greater heights and as far as our belief in the Vics takes us.
Again, I can only say on behalf of all the club thank you so much Daz!
Saturday 27th October 2018 - FROM DAZ…
Stepping down after 14 years as Club Secretary was not an easy decision to make, especially knowing that my family have been involved at Vics for generations. During my time at the helm I got to know many dedicated people in both Island and Wessex football and to them all I say thank you for their support and guidance over the years. I am not leaving the club, just the Secretarial role and will always be involved in Beatrice Avenue, the home of the Vics. To Lisa from us all I give a big welcome and rest assured that all here will give her the same support that was given to me. Lisa welcome!
Saturday 31st March 2018 v Christchurch
The first team did extremely well on Saturday when they held table topping Christchurch to a goalless draw at home. Most neutrals at the game felt that we were very deserving of a point and maybe all 3 points should have been ours.
The lads seemed to be playing with a good level of confidence which we displayed earlier in the season when we went 8 games unbeaten. We still have a lot to play for this season so I hope this form continues.
The place didn't seem the same on Saturday without our Chairman Paul Phelps who was ill. Hopefully Paul is in attendance tonight - it isn't the same without him here.
Many thanks to Simmo and Debbie behind the bar who worked so hard over the weekend supplying food and drinks to the hordes of players and parents who were attending a youth football tournament on the Astroturf. The bar is our only source of income and they both worked so hard over the weekend to raise much needed funds. Thanks Simmo and Debs. x
